Customer Reviews of the Leupold GX-1

R. Broadbent @ Amazon.com

“This is my first rangefinder. I have been using an app on my smart phone which was great and free. But now I am a convert to the rangefinder. No need to download anything or wonder if it has been mapped. No need to remember to have the device charged so it will last the whole round. It’s just ready to go. I also relate better to the process of looking at the thing I am measuring versus a map.

As for Leupold, again this is my first rangefinder, I am very satisfied with it. It is a great size in the hand and if needed I can put it into my pants pocket while I hit the shot. With reflectors on the flag stick, the reading is almost instantaneous. Even without reflectors the measurement is very quick and seems to be accurate when I compare it to my friend’s Callaway unit. I can easily measure to bunkers, trees, or mounds in the fairway. The magnification is fine and I have not had any trouble being steady enough to get a measurement. I have not had the occasion to use the fog mode yet but I’m sure that will come soon.”

G.I.C @ Amazon.com

“This is my first rangefinder and I have only used it 2x. Once at a course that had pin reflectors and once at a course that did not.

Personal disclosure: I’m an engineer, and fairly particular about technical products. Golf handicap hovers around 12. rarely shoot in the 70s and rarely shoot above 90.

I chose a rangefinder because of concerns over weather affecting signal, subscriptions, and battery life associated with GPS. I was also quite interested in being able to get accurate distances to targets at a driving range. GPS just can’t do this.

Picked Leupold primarily based on reviews at Amazon.com

So far I have found it to work amazingly well. range to target seems to be dead on. I was paired with a guy that had the Bushnell and we were never more than 1 yard apart. the Leupold acquired the reflective pins quickly while in scan mode. Also had no problem ranging to hazards. I find ranging to hazards, doglegs, etc to be as important as ranging to pin. At the course with no reflectors on the pins I was able to acquire the flag in scan mode with little trouble. you have to shoot the entire area and watch the display as it doesn’t “lock” as when reflectors are in place.

Battery is still showing full so if a battery lasts 10 rounds I would be thrilled. they can be purchased for $5 each or less on Amazon so <50 cents per round will be fine by me.

only downside I can see vs GPS is when you can’t see target because of doglegs, obstacles, etc. But in my personal experience if I can’t see the green I’m generally aiming at the middle of green and sprinkler head or other markers are sufficient.

Overall the Leupold has met all my expectations and I’m very happy with the purchase.”

Customer Reviews of the Callaway LR550

F. Mendez @ Amazon.com

“This range finder has been a joy and easy to use. The eight second active mode makes verifying the target a snap and the display is as easy to read as any range finder I’ve used. My friends recommendation of the yellow was spot on because it makes leaving it in the cart near impossible. Lastly the waterproof feature (only one in the price range I saw) allows you to not worry about those occasional showers. I recommend it to everyone I play with!”

Rob @ Amazon.com

“I bought this to replace a Bushnell 1600. This rangefinder blows the Bushnell out of the water.

At a course where the flag-sticks have prisms; any rangefinder will work. The true test is when you go to a course that doesn’t have the reflective prisms on the pins. I have never been unable to get an accurate reading with this rangefinder. I can not say that about the 3 different Bushnells I have used. The Callaways are far more accurate, by a long-shot. If you know your getting a laser rangefinder, get this one; you will be very pleased.

***Update***
Still, in my opinion the best rangefinder I have ever used. The sweep function ensures I have an accurate reading every time, I get the number for something past the pin then I get the pin. More than once with my old Bushnell(s) I had pulled it out at a new course and on the first hole trusted my yardage; only to fly the ball 20 yards long… and later realize I had the distance to a tree behind the flag… because the pin didn’t have a prism and my Bushnell doesn’t like pins without prisms.

The only drawback is the battery cover seems like it could actually be knocked out accidentally. So, I bought a skin to go over it; which solved the problem and makes me feel better about that one time in the future it will definitely get dropped on a cart path.”

Introducing the Bushnell Hybrid GPS Laser rangefinder, the first rangefinder to combine laser and GPS technology in one! If you are undecided on whether you prefer laser or GPS technology now you can have both in this one unique unit.

With the precision and accuracy of the laser mode you can use the hybrid to accurately calculate distances within +/- 1 yard to your required destination. Simply aim the rangefinder at the flag or specified target and the Pinseeker mode will lock in and calculate the distance for your shot. The Pinseeker technology built into the Bushnell Hybrid has a range of 10 -1000 yards and the multi-coated optic lens provides 5x magnification for highly accurate readings.

The GPS functionality of the Bushnell Hybrid is also of high quality allowing you to get distances to the pin even when the pin is not in view. It also has the capability to provide distances to the front, center and back of the green with high accuracy no matter where you are on the hole or course. With over 16,000 pre-loaded North American courses and Auto Hole Advance and Auto Hole Recognition all you have to do is turn up to your preferred course and turn on the Hybrid and it will automatically get readings of the course you are at via it’s GPS satellite receiver. No membership fees are required for GPS course accessibility. That is amazing value!

Customer Reviews of the Bushnell Hybrid

Pleasanton @ Amazon.com

“I’ve had a Callaway upro for the past 2 years and was ready for a change. I wanted a range finder instead of gps to get more accurate distances. I also wanted something faster than the upro, it seemed like I spent a lot of time messing around with the upro to get what I needed on the course. But, I didn’t want to give up the ability to get distances on blind shots and layup distance on long par 5′s. I’m very glad I found the Bushnell Hybrid. I’ve played a couple rounds with it so far and love it. The range finder, which I use 90% of the time, is very quick to get yardages and easy to find the flag from 200 in. The GPS is rather sparse, but has everything I need, back front middle and some other elements on certain holes, like a creek. You can also add your own items on courses you play a lot. The gps is very responsive and it moves from hole to hole on its own. The battery on the upro was awful, sometimes not even making it through the round. While I haven’t fully tested the battery on the Bushnell, I should be able to easily get three rounds, which is perfect. ”

Spidey 1313 @ Amazon.com

“I was looking into purchasing either a Golf GPS or Rangefinder when I ran across this Hybrid that had both features. Amazon had the price down to $399 at the time so it was hard to resist. I’ve used it a few rounds and am very impressed. The Pinseeker feature works very quickly and is a snap. I basically point it in the direction of the pin and it finds the distance then displays the Pinseeker icon to verify it’s been located. The GPS feature works great for those times I don’t need precise yardages. My only complaint it that the GPS never finds my home course and I have to manually input it each time. This was before and after I performed the required connection to igolf for the GPS upgrades. Overall, I’m very happy with this product. “

Today’s review is on the Bushnell Pro 1600 golf laser rangefinder. Classed as one of the most accurate and most effective rangefinders by tour professionals this little unit can measure distances of up to 1600 yards within +/- 1 yard off accuracy. This creates both confidence in club selection and better results by knowing exactly how far to hit your next shot.

The Pro 1600 comes both in tournament legal Standard edition and also in Slope edition for the avid golf player. The Slope edition will measure accurate distances whether you are up-hill or down hill.

Also built into this rangefinder is a digital inclinometer which helps you determine distance based on the degree of elevation change. Very handy indeed.

Another fantastic addition is the Pinseeker mode that allows easy targeting of the flag without inadvertently capturing background target distances. Combine this with x7 magnification and the Rainguard HD waterproof technology system that keeps your optical lens always clear no matter what the conditions then you really can see why most tour pro’s prefer the Bushnell Pro 1600 as their main rangefinder.

Customer Reviews of the Bushnell Pro 1600

C.L Northrup @ Amazon.com

“You get quick accurate measurements to the pin and other object like green side bunkers. There is no need to download different golf courses, you can use the Bushnell 1600 on any golf course. I received advice on what to buy from caddies who loop for PGA tour players and this is what they all use. Just go to a PGA tournament practice round and watch how the caddies check yardage and what they are using. It is also great on the practice range because it helps me know exactly how far I am hitting each club in by bag. It was easier to hold steady when getting yardages than I imagined. Great product and I am very pleased with my decision.”

Key Rod @ Amazon.com

“I purchased this product because one of my friends had one. I had the Sky Caddie but thought the 1600 could serve several purposes (on the course and at the range). I also thought it would provide me with immediate feedback on position and obstacles. I used it during a round and was not disappointed. Not only did I get the exact readings on yardage, it gave me confidence when trying to avoid hazards as I knew what club to pick for the right trajectory to get around, below, or above them based on the distance. Sky Caddie, in my opinion, just did not provide the same type of information to me on demand. I would recommend this product to anyone asking. “

Customer Reviews of the Bushnell Tour V2

Paul Callahan @ Amazon.com

“I have used a skycaddie for two years. In fact, both only lasted about 6 months before they broke. In a panic, I bought a Bushnell V2 w/ Pinseeker the day before going to Pinehurst and played 4 rounds of golf with it, three of the courses I’ve never played before. It does everything Bushnell claims. Its very easy to use and the Pinseeker mode works perfectly. It never gave me an incorrect reading. One day I was with a Pinehurst member who had a laser designed to work specifically with a reflective element on top of all the Pinehurst flags. Every reading on every par 3 was exactly the same as his to the yard. If you have never used a Rangefinder or skycaddie, I’d recommend the Bushnell range finder. It does everything a skycaddie does AND you can laser anything on the course, not just the geographic references the skycaddie has in its course memory. I’m bitter about my skycaddies expenses, but this thing works better. When I get my skycaddie back, I’ll use it but won’t spend the money to renew the annual membership this fall.”

Claudio Santis Mangiola @ Amazon.com

“Got this back in November so it has seen only a few rounds. I went for the ‘slope’ version and it works perfectly. Choosing between clubs for green approach is much easier, avoiding front and back bunkers also, and of course other kind of hazards. A must have in your bag that will help you take the precision of your golf to a new level. In my case, I’ve been able to get rid of a few hits in my card already.

Very easy to use, precise pin measuring, slope works perfectly and no battery problems so far. The case included is great with both zipper and magnet closure and a hook to easily clip it to your bag.

Seller service along with Amazon, perfect as always, and in my case waited for the best deal. Happy purchase. ”
